Project Description
Dance Photography
Dance photography became a passion of mine after a workshop I attended in the ICP centre in NY in 2007. I was lucky enough to be able to photograph freely in a unique environment and with great professionals. Roy Volkman ran the workshop.
The dancers were lovely and were patient with the complicated postures and jumps asked of them. Sometimes the jumps were difficult to explain in words. I eventually found the ideal method. I drew in a notebook the figures they had to do and how I wanted the veils to be seen at the time of the jump. I explained to them what volume I was looking for in each photograph. Every picture I show in this post took many attempts. But the final results speak for themselves.
